MY Secrets for a relaxed senior session

Location

Are they at home in the mountains or a local beach? More urban or grunge style? Or most at home wandering through a field of tall flowers? The right location should suit your teen's personality and give them a backdrop where they can relax and shine. If they're extra shy I choose places and times of day where we aren't battling it out with other people or photographers.

Movement

I always start out my sessions with movement to loosen things up. We walk, we spin, it can get silly and that's perfectly okay! I've found that some movement can break the ice before I'm asking them to pose at all.

Music

I love having music playing during our session and will ask for your teen's favorite Spotify playlist to play on my Bluetooth speakers. Music sets a vibe and can be very relaxing or inspiring.

Let them be

I think it's important for these portrait sessions to document who they are at this time in their lives. If they don't smile a lot normally, I won't force them to smile. But in doing so, I find that my relaxed approach often leads to plenty of genuine smiles throughout the session.

TEEN Modeling & Talent Portfolios

I love working with young people to create their portfolio for talent agencies.   I'll guide you through the process of what most agencies require, we'll plan a variety of looks and you'll end up with a commercially viable portfolio of images and 'leave behind' comp card.    It's a fun and confidence-building experience for your kids or teens!

Includes:
  • 1.5 hour custom session with 4-6 looks
  • headshots, 1/2 body, 3/4 body and full body variations
  • 30 images licensed for commercial use.

How should we prepare?


Don't worry at all! I will send you a detailed prep and style guide to help you and your teen select outfits that feel authentic to them and help them shine on camera. You can send me mirror selfie phone images for personalized feedback on which outfits will work best.



what if the weather is bad?



If it looks like rain is in the forecast we'll talk about rescheduling to another date, finding a studio space, or in-home session options.

what will be the location for our photo shoot?


Mountains, lakes, rivers, fields of wildflowers or tall grasses. We are blessed with so many gorgeous locations in the Pac NW!  I'll help you find the perfect location for your session. Whether it's at your home, a scenic outdoor location, or a venue of your choice, I'm open to capturing your portraits in a place that holds meaning to you.

How long does a typical photo session last?


The duration of a photo session varies depending on the type and scope of the project. Senior portrait sessions typically range from 1.5 to 2 hours. I strive to provide ample time to capture all the important moments and ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable throughout the session.

How long does it take to receive the final edited photos?


I know you're excited to see your final photos! I'll send a sneak peek within a few days. My editing process typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the volume of images and the complexity of skin retouching required. I prioritize quality and attention to detail to deliver exceptional images that exceed your expectations.

what if we have a tight yearbook deadline?


I know sometimes these things sneak up on you and I will do my best to accommodate any tight deadlines. There may be a rush fee involved if the delivery time is less than 1 week from the session. In extreme cases, I have often done a quick yearbook mini session and then held the main portrait session at a later date if the weather was unfavorable for an extended time.
